Hi guys. When I tried to install a game today, it kept giving me an error message saying that it couldn't install and it needed to close. Can you explain what's happening and how I can get around this? It's always the games that require DirectX 9 tht I have a problem with. And yes, I do have DirectX 9 installed.
Ok, so I got a few of them working, because apparently I didn't have directX installed, which I do now. However, I still can't get one game to work, and that's called Night of Parasite. Please help, I really want to play this game!
For night of Parasite to work properly, I think you will need the .net frame work,(I think that's for another game though.) Just amke sure you're Directx is up-to-date
Harrypotter,
I'm giving you the same song and dance I've given both my daughter and my niece: you've got to think CSI Miami when you try and ask for technical help. Give as much info as you have. Noone expects you to have it all, but if you know what OS you have installed, that's huge. What part of the install died? Also if you have the error you should try and provide that because even if the person helping you has never seen the game, it's likely a common error to one of the major installation packages. For us who can help you, it's often the case we can work the problem backwards e.g. mentally retrace your steps but only provided we have enough info. You're obviously on the ball some, as you know what Direct X is and knew what version was installed - puts you miles ahead of many ... but try posting your question again with a bit more info.
Agree with the last post, and also you might want to look at the system requirements for that game. I don't know much about it, but depending on what OS you're running etc., you might need visual basic or a specific version of the .net framework. just make sure you have everything properly installed that's listed as a system requirement before trying to install the game again.
That's weird. I managed to get to install just fine. What OS are you using?
That is awesome. Think CSI Miami. I'm going to tell some one that the next time they ask me a tech question and don't give me enough info. Thanks for that.
Well it's all about getting users to take control rather than feel powerless; technology's just a tool ...
There's nothing to worry about anymore, guys, I got it to work. I had to uninstall my virus protection before I installed the game because the virus protection software, which is Microsoft Security Essentials, kept telling me that the game was a threat, so I uninstalled it befroe I installed the game, and it's working fine. I also had DirectX 8 installed, which came with the computer, so from that info, it shuld be obvious that I'm running Windows XP, since that's what DirectX 8 comes with. I had to upgrade DirectX to the later version of it because that's what the game supported. Also, I've had the .net framework for quite a while now; in fact, I have the .net framework 3.5 installed.. So everything other than directX was ready to go; I just had to uninstall my virus protection to install the game, It's all working fine now.
